Rednecks, Crash Your Clunkers - Video

Resident Rednecks of Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, recently sported their own version of cash for clunkers when they decided to forgo collecting any government cash for their old clunker of a vehicle as they might by participating in the federal government's cash for clunkers program.

Instead they started their own affair in which they crash their clunkers. No they do not receive $4,500 from the federal government, but, as you may surmise from the photo above, the Crash Your Clunker event was a whole lot more fun than any government subsidy or rebate.

What our Turtle Lake rednecks did was set up a weekend happening down in a gravel pit in Turtle Lake in which the clunkers were launched up a gravel ramp and sent hurtling into oblivion on the flip side of the ramp.

"It's a little redneck, but we love it, we accept it, we admit and we enjoy it," said Brett Moravitz, who is a self-proclaimed redneck.

Approximately 300 participants and onlookers gathered one recent Saturday afternoon at Moravitz Excavating to watch the clunkers hurtle down a runway, launch into the air and finally crash into a gravel pit.

It certainly is nowhere near as classy as NASCAR, and it demolishes the clunkers much more than a demolition derby. The Crash your Clunker event is the brainchild of Bob Moravitz.

"You don't get to do this kind-of stuff very often," said Bob. "I mean, destruction of a car that really isn't worth nothing anyway. So let's just wreck it."

Bob's son Rick and his pal Jake fitted the cars with remote-controlled devices so they could control the gas pedal and the steering. Since they didn't install any remote control on the brakes, they dug trenches along the sides of the runway to prevent the cars from veering too far off course.

Upon releasing the brake, the clunkers would speed down the runway with Rick and Jake following close behind on a four-wheeler. At the same time they controlled the speed and direction of the vehicle right up to when it launched itself off the ramp.

In addition to launching cars, they also launched a camper towing a boat and a pickup pulling a round baler. But the piece de resistance was the launching of two school buses.

It seems that the Crash Your Clunker event promises to become an annual redneck phenomenon each summer in Turtle Lake that may just grow a little each succeeding year.

We are sorry, but the video is no longer available. The sponsor bailed on us. Don't you just hate when they do that?

Brett Favre Moved His Cheese - Video

A Minneapolis, MN, radio station has deliberately played on the recent tensions of the football rivalry between the NFL's Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. On Saturday night, August 22, 2009, KDWB radio station hired an airplane to fly over Lambeau Field during the Packers-Buffalo Bills game.

The plane hauled a message behind it for Packers fans that said, "Hey Packers We Moved Your Cheese." Have a look at a video of the event (there may be an ad in the vid that I was not able to remove):

Naturally the message was a reference to the recent hiring of Brett Favre as the Vikings' number one quarterback. The reports are that the Packers fans at the game were none too pleased with the prank that was played at their expense.

Favre had been the Packers quarterback for about 17 seasons until he retired at the end of the 2007-08 season. He came out of retirement last year to play for the New York Jets, and now this year he again came out of retirement to play for the Vikings.

Perhaps a Green Bay radio station will now reciprocate raising the level of this friendly rivalry even further?

Trouble with Trains - Videos

Today we present trouble with trains. In our first video, a couple of boys, Russian I believe from the sound of the vid, prove to themselves that they are man enough to do something totally crazy. Have a look:

This is one daredevil type prank that I hope does not spread to the US. If I caught my kid doing this, I would ground him for a year. Having said that, I bet a stunt like that really gets the old adrenalin pumping.

In this next video a group of kids are being kids at a train depot. Suddenly two of them try to push each other into the path of an oncoming train. They both end up on the tracks just as the train passes.

It is a miracle that they did not get killed as the train passes over them missing them literally by inches.

Our last video has been around for a couple of years, but it fit right in with our train theme for today so I added it anyway. If you have already seen it, watch again because it is very funny.

It seems some Norwegian kids think of themselves as engineers and decide to alter the course of a high-speed train with rather amazing results. Take a look:

That video was worth the wait IMO.

Baby Chick Fights Off Monitor Lizard - Videos

This is either one tough baby chick or else one wimpy monitor lizard. The not too bright lizard tries to make breakfast out of this baby chick with ridiculous results.

The chick gives a whole new meaning to over easy, because this is one lil' chick who isn't a pushover for anyone. And that includes this lizard that only gives a half-hearted attempt at dining on chicken today.

I think that lizard will starve if that is the best it can do at securing himself a meal.

This black labrador is totally confused in the next video and practically has a fit when he sees a vid of his roommate, the cat. Which one is your pal Felix the Cat, huh puppy? I don't know if you don't know Fido. Maybe there are two of them now.

It is pretty obvious that this pup is not tech saavy. Take some technology classes pooch because you will never make it far in this modern high tech society if you cannot even deal with a cat video. Poor puppy.

Save Water - Pee in the Shower - Video

It's a slogan that began in Brazil. Save Water! "Save the Atlantic rainforest! Pee in the Shower!" Suddenly, what all mothers taught their sons and daughters not to do is now chic and considered the right thing to do.

The video below is the work of a Brazilian environmental group, SOS Mata Atlantica, whose goal is to save the Brazilian rainforest. I do not know why saving water will help save the rainforest, but I will take their word for it.

The logic behind taking a leak in the shower is simply a numbers game. One person urinating in the shower instead of the toilet once a day will save about 1,100 gallons of water a year. If every person on the planet joined in, the resultant savings would be over 6.5 trillion gallons of water saved every year.

That is some serious conservation folks.

The following video is in Portuguese so most will not be able to understand it, but the message is that people from all walks of life, from a trapeze artist to a basketball player to even an alien, are all urinating in the shower to save water.

Have a look:

This water saving campaign has legs and may go viral worldwide. Just remember, next time you shower, urinate for mother nature.

Rain and Thunder Sound Effects - Remarkable Videos

Perpetuum Jazzile, a group from Ljubljana, Slovenia, uses their hands and feet to simulate the sound of rains' pitter patter and thunder's roar. Although this video does not qualify as a humorous post, I thought its unique appeal demanded that I post it.

In addition, the group also performs more mainstream music. Check out the following video for an unusual but pleasing rendition of Cudna Noc (Strange night):
